The Acting Company Presents a Modern-Verse “Hamlet” at Sheen Center from May 20-24

The Acting Company presents a modern-verse Hamlet at Sheen Center from Wednesday, May 20 through Sunday, May 24. The translation is by Lisa Peterson, directed by Chika V. Ike. The 75-minute adaptation, commissioned by and in partnership with Play On Shakespeare, brings this foundational tragedy into the present with renewed urgency.

Centering on Hamlet’s struggle to decide how to respond to his father’s death and his mother’s remarriage, this production is the perfect entrance point to this powerful story of grief and vengeance. The young ensemble brings this complex story to life with clear, bold language and high-energy performances. Prior to this performance, the production was performed across NYC area schools,  entertaining students as it drew them into the language of dramatic literature. Each school residency included a post-show discussion and offered The Acting Company’s award-winning Learning Through Theater workshops.
