It’s 2026; in July, our Declaration of Independence turns 250. Thank you, Mr. Jefferson! It’s America’s birthday. Time to celebrate. Join Claudine Cassan-Jellison with Am I Blue on Wednesday, June 24 at 7 PM and Saturday, June 27 at 4 PM at Don’t Tell Mama. Barry Kleinbort directs and musical director is pianist David Gaines, with bassist Ritt Henn.

About the show: in January 2025, while the man in DC was signing his stack of executive orders, Jellison began writing every day for one hundred days with playwright/teacher Karen Hartman, who called this writing “The Hundred-Day Reckoning.” Jellison was reckoning with loss.

“Did I lose my country?”

After filling over twenty legal pads it hit the singer that the phone banking she’d done over years for Democrats let her meet people from all over America—Georgia, Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina, New Mexico, Virginia, Arizona, even New York. She was writing their stories. And Jellison was writing from the people who first taught her about America—her immigrant ‘Franco-American’ family.

“I was looking for America. I found some people who have stories…and I put them in a show.”

Cover is $15 with a $20 two-drink minimum, cash only.

Don’t Tell Mama is located at 343 W. 46th St., NYC
