Will Friedwald’s “Clip Joint” Celebrates Black History Month from Monday, February 15 to Thursday, February 18

Author, reviewer and clipmeister, Will Friedwald has a packed week of prime offerings into his ongoing Clip Joint series, which puts the focus this week on Black History Month.

On Monday, February 15 at 7:00 PM ET, The Nashville Jazz Workshop presents Nat King Cole. This program features Nat King Cole: The Singer, the last of three presentations of Cole’s life and legacy. “Long before he crooned his way into the hearts of the world, Nat King Cole (1919-1965) was already recognized as one of the greatest pianists in the history of jazz. In honor of the Cole centennial, this unique film presentation (featuring tons of rare footage not available on home video or youTube) looks at both sides of this unforgettable musician and entertainer through the lens of jazz and the blues.”

Tuesday, February 16 at 7:00 PM ET: CELEBRATING BILL DOGGETT, the R&B and soul-jazz organ pioneer, bandleader and composer. Special guest is Doggett’s nephew, also named Bill Doggett, who is a historian, scholar, lecturer and one of the Manhattan School of Music’s 2020-21 Black Scholars.

Wednesday, February 17 at 7:00 PM ET: MARDI-GRAS!—A CELEBRATION OF NEW ORLEANS.
