The Drama League Announces Nominees for 2019 Awards, to Be Given on Friday, May 17 at the Marriott Marquis Times Square

The Drama League announced its 2019 nominees Wednesday, which include off-Broadway and Broadway productions. The awards ceremony will take place on May 17 at Marriott Marquis Times Square.

In addition to competitive awards, the Drama League—made up of industry professionals, producers, artists, audiences and critics—chooses one actor to receive the distinguished performance award as well as three theater professionals to receive special recognition awards. This year’s recipients are Kelli O’Hara for distinguished achievement in musical theater, Alex Timbers for excellence in directing and Taylor Mac for unique contribution to theater.

“The Boys in the Band” was deemed not eligible because the production did not give out tickets to the nominators “due to the limited ticket availability and limited run of the show,” according to a spokesperson for the show.
