Sharon McNight Is Appearing at Don’t Tell Mama & Seven Angels Theatre with Several Different Shows

Tony nominated, award-winning entertainer, Sharon McNight, has big plans in these next two  months. On Monday, February 26 and Tuesday, March 6, 7:00 PM at Don’t Tell Mama, McNight reunites with musical director, James “Jim Bob” Followell in Turn Back Time, a program of songs from their years of musical collaboration. In 1980, San Francisco-based McNight hired the then recently relocated pianist as West Coast cabaret was beginning to blossom. The duo began working together, eventually touring clubs in the US and Europe.

McNight’s second show at Don’t Tell Mama is entitled Gone But Not Forgotten, playing on Friday and Saturday, March 30 and 31 at 7:00 PM.  With Music Director Ian Herman at the keys, McNight salutes great women singers and comediennes who are no longer with us, but whose names and music live on. Told through a signature song, historical tidbits and story, McNight pays tribute to the likes of Sophie Tucker, Ethel Merman, Judy Garland, Patsy Kline and more.

In Waterbury, Connecticut, McNight stars in her self-penned Off-Broadway show, Red Hot Mama, at the Seven Angels Theatre, from February 15 to March 11. The show features the music and life of show business legend, Sophie Tucker; New York critics have called the show “a musical tour de force.”

On March 27th, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC), is honoring McNight with their Lifetime Achevement Award to be presented at B.B. Kings Supper Club on 42nd Street.  Previous winners have included Peter Allen, Marilyn Maye, Leslie Uggams, Maureen McGovern, and Annie Ross. McNight won her first MAC award in 1987 for Outstanding Female Vocalist. For more information please visit macnyc.com.
