Save the Dates for a Full Roster of MAC Events

From President Julie Miller—here are some of the latest happenings at MAC:

MAC Awards

What a wonderful MAC Awards season we had! It was great to have so many of you join us in person for the MAC Awards show at Symphony Space, while many others were following along on social media as the categories were being announced. Congratulations to all of the winners, as well as our three Lifetime Achievement Award recipients: JP Perreaux, Lee Roy Reams, and Vivian Reed, and our Hanson Award recipient, Marcia Roney. It was a memorable evening of song, recognition, and community and we are so glad to have shared it together with all of you. Amy Wolk and I want to again thank all of the Board and other volunteers who donated so much of their time to making the evening such a success!

Thanks to our wonderful photographers, Conor Weiss, Genevieve Rafter Keddy, Maryann Lopinto, and Natasha Castillo, you can find great photos of the event in many publications, including Broadwayworld.com, NiteLifeExchange.com, CabaretScenes.org, and TheaterPizzazz.com, among others.

Also, if you have not yet seen our virtual MAC Awards show program, here is a direct link to it on the MAC website.

MAC Open Mics

Our final in-person MAC Open Mic of the season will take place on Monday, May 13th at 7 pm at Don’t Tell Mama. Doors open for signup starting at 6:15pm. Our host for the evening will be Jennie Litt, and our musical director will be Blake Brauer. As always, it is free cover for MAC members! The club has a $20 minimum (must include 2 drinks.) Non-members pay a $10 cover in addition to the minimum. We hope you will join us for this fun night.

Also, while our in-person open mics will be on break during the Summer (we’ll be back again in the Fall), I am very pleased to announce that we have scheduled two virtual open mics so you may join us from wherever your summer travels may take you. They will be on Monday, July 15th jointly hosted by Analisa Bell and Jason Ellis, and on Monday, August 5th hosted by Natasha Castillo. All MAC members are welcome to join us for these free virtual open mics. More information on these will follow soon

MAC Community Chorus

The MAC Community Chorus has been off to a strong start and has quickly become a much-loved event by those who have attended. We have scheduled two more dates for our gatherings:  Thursday, May 2 and Thursday, June 20, both from 7pm to 9pm, held in a rehearsal space in the Theater District. All MAC members are welcome to attend regardless of whether you have been to a previous one. It’s a low-pressure group singing, part socializing fun time, and I hope you’ll come check it out! If you would like to attend and haven’t before, please send an email to our main email address:  CabaretMACnyc@gmail.com to reserve your spot, and we’ll get you all set up with the exact location and the sheet music for the songs we’ll be working on. Members who have attended before will get an email from me soon with the songs we’ll be singing on May 2nd.

MAC to School

An early note to save the dates of September 28-29 for our next big MAC to School Weekend!
