Sean Harkness & The Unusual Suspects perform instrumental jams on classic rock/pop tunes on Sunday, September 5 at 8:30 PM at Birdland. Harkness, on electric guitar, creates music with Etienne Stadwijk (keys), John Lenis (bass) and Clint de Ganon (drums). Songs are all from classic rock/pop from the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s, with fresh arrangements that blend psychedelic jams, jazz, rock & roll and world rhythms.
With the Unusual Suspects, Harkness’ electric guitar becomes the voice. Long before Harkness made his commercial acoustic debut he became the go-to guitarist for vocalists from Broadway, film, and TV, playing electric guitar in rock & roll bands. There was even a stint as a bassist in a heavy metal band. Harkness has also played in blues, dance rock, funk, R&B, reggae, hippy-rock, southern rock, and country rock bands.
