We started 2020 with a bang, as ScoBar Entertainment rolled into its sixth month with PIANO BAR LIVE! Monday nights at 7pm at Brandy’s Piano Bar on the Upper East Side. Joining Piano Bar Maestro, MICHAEL McASSEY at the keys, will be a veritable Who’s Who of Cabaret and Broadway! PIANO BAR LIVE! is an interactive, live-streaming Piano Bar experience. THERE IS NO COVER CHARGE for PIANO BAR LIVE!  but there is a two drink minimum.

Guests for January 13th include Tanya Moberly, Bob Diamond, Katelyn Lauria and from the cast of The Blue Wave, Dawn Derow, Sierra Rein and producer Stephen Hanks.

TANYA MOBERLY is a 2019 Bistro Award-winning Director, 2016 MAC Award-winner for Best Female Vocalist, 2014 Bistro Award-winner for Outstanding Theme Show and Six-Time MAC Award-winning Producer of The Salon. Tanya has been performing in cabaret since 1997, when she co-created MAC Award-nominated The Blonde Leading the Blonde. Solo shows include Moberly Sings Di Franco, Tanya Lorraine Moberly Sings Barbra Joan Streisand, Theatre Songs, Moberly Sings Nilsson, Tanya Sings The Blues, Tanya Sings Amy, Ani, Rickie, Joni and Moberly Sings Loggins. She performed in The Margaret Whiting Tribute at Carnegie Hall in 2014 and in The Cabaret Convention at Rose Hall at Lincoln Center in 2017. Theatre credits include April in Company, Rizzo in Grease, Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show, Ruby in Dames at Sea, Lola in Damn Yankees, Petra in A Little Night Music and Drood in The Mystery of Edwin Drood. She is also a Booking Manager for Don’t Tell Mama.

BOB DIAMOND was born in Great Falls, Montana and moved to Seattle in his early teens, where he started acting at The Bellevue Playbarn  in Bellevue, WA. He graduated from the University of Washington, with a major in Television Production. He spent two and a half years in the Army teaching Psychological Warfare to enlisted men at Fort Bragg, NC and after being discharged, moved to New York and started directing Television for WOR-TV. He directed “The Joe Franklin Show” for thirty-five years, as well as many other shows. He was Director of Supernumeraries and Children at the Metropolitan Opera, as well as acting on “All My Children” and “Days of Our Lives.”  Theatre performances have ranged from God to Lady Bracknell. Bob did his first cabaret show in the late ‘80’s at Danny’s Skylight Room, with the late Dean X. Johnson as his musical director. He was a MAC nominee in 2013 and in 2017, won the MAC Award for Best Male Vocalist. His love of Cabaret started with his being in the company of John Wallowitch and Margaret Whiting and being in love with Blossom Dearie. Bob is a member of SAG/AFTRA, AEA, DGA and on the Board of Directors of MAC.

KATELYN LAURIA is an actress, singer, dancer and all around theatre gal who lives in Hoboken, NJ. She is the youngest of three and the only artist in her household. She is a part of a huge loving Italian family who supports her no matter what. Katelyn learned early on, that the performer’s life was her calling, so she started taking classes for tap, jazz, ballet, musical theatre dance, acting and vocal lessons, eventually going to college at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. When she’s  not in shows you can catch her taking classes at Broadway Dance Center and the Growing Studio. You will mainly find her hitting the pavement in NYC, trying to make her dreams a reality.

DAWN DEROW graduated from the Boston Conservatory of Music after studying Vocal Performance and Opera Emphasis. Shortly after that, she moved to NYC to pursue her dreams as a singer/actress and she’s lived in NYC for almost 20 years. Dawn first began performing cabaret shows in 2008 and since then, has created 10 different cabaret productions. She’s a two-time MAC Award-winner, for the duo show Revolution, with Kathleen France in 2015 and for Best Vocalist for My Ship–Songs from 1941, in 2018. In 2017, she was a Bistro Award-winner for Outstanding Vocalist for her show Legit: A Classical Cabaret. In June 2016, she made her Mable Mercer Foundation Debut at Weill Center in Carnegie Hall for a tribute to Cole Porter. The Mable Mercer Foundation also asked her to perform at the 2018 Cabaret Convention. During 2020, Dawn will be recording a CD of her Award-winning My Ship–Songs from 1941. You can also catch her perform at the Beach Café on Saturday, March 14th, along with her musical director Ian Herman in her new Eydie Gorme tribute show, Gypsy in My Soul.

SIERRA REIN performed her inaugural solo show, Running in Place, in 2018 at the Laurie Beechman Theatre and received the 2019 Bistro Award for “Outstanding Debut” and the 2019 MAC Award win for “Best Debut.” Sierra is a regional musical theatre actor with an energetic and dramatic vocal range, previously seen waving wands and tentacles for Disney Cruise Line and as a villainous singing Russian in the short film Better Dead than Red. Sierra is a member of the MAC Award-winning group Marquee Five and a Board Member of Mark Janas’ The Salon Open Mic. A self-identifying sci-fi nerd who loves shoving her hands into puppets, Sierra lives in Manhattan with two cats and her husband, Pete (who always says the right thing at the right time).

STEPHEN HANKS has been an award-winning magazine publisher/editor/writer for a variety of national magazines and websites for 4 decades, writing about sports, health and nutrition, parenting, politics, the media and most recently, cabaret and musical theatre. From 2012-2016, Stephen was the lead New York cabaret editor & writer for BroadwayWorld.com. Since entering the world of cabaret in 2010 as a reviewer for Cabaret Scenes Magazine, Stephen has also been a producer, promoter, publicist and performer, producing 7 critically acclaimed shows for the Urban Stages Winter Rhythms Series. In 2018 and 2019, Stephen produced the five-show series Cabaret Campaigns: Ride the Blue Wave: 2018, which were fundraisers for Democratic candidates in the 2018 midterm elections and two more Blue Wave variety shows in 2019. Stephen’s next production, Blue Wave: The Voting Rights Show, is on January 20, 2020 at Hidden Cabaret at the Secret Room at 7 pm.
