Jazz at the Ballroom and Songbook Ink present Accentuate the Positive, Songs From the 1930s-40s in celebration of America’s 250th birthday on Friday through Sunday, July 3-5 in the Birdland Theater, all at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
The show is a celebration of the American Songbook with timeless tunes from the 1920s–40s that have been reimagined with new arrangements and interpreted by some of the brightest young stars in jazz. Accentuate The Positive is presented in memory of Ken Peplowski. The roster isL
Robbie Lee (piano, vocals) is a modern songbook interpreter in the Nat King Cole mold and is a featured performer with The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. Olivia Chindamo (vocals) is a Juilliard graduate whho has headlined jazz stages throughout the world and released two acclaimed recordings. Bryan Carter (drums) is a multiple GRAMMY® Award winner and TONY® Award winner for Some Like it Hot. Angela Grey (vocals) is Paris-based and leads the resident ensemble at DucDesLombards. Wyatt Michael (vocals) was featured on season 21 of The Voice on NBC where he was mentored by Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande. Felix Peikli (clarinet) has toured the world and serves as artistic director of his native Norwegian Jazz Orchestra. They will be joined by bassist Dylan Shamat.
