Jamie deRoy & friends Presents Creating Musical Theater Off-Broadway on Sunday Evening, August 2

The latest edition of Jamie deRoy & friends is dedicated to Creating Musical Theater Off-Broadway, from the archives of Primary Stages Off-Broadway Oral History Project. The show airs on Sunday, August 2 at 7:30 pm on Spectrum Channel 56, RCN Channel 83, and Verizon FIOS Channel 34, as well as on East Hampton LTV Channel 20 at a later date. The collection of previously taped interviews, with Daryl Roth, Don Scardino, Dr. Glory Van Scott, Fyvush Finkel, Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford, Jerry Zaks, Jo Sullivan Loesser, Joe Hardy, Maryanne De Pury, Micki Grant, Richard Foreman, Richard Maltby, Jr., Rita Gardner, Sheldon Harnick, Tom Jones and Tony Walton, was conducted by Casey Childs and Sally Plass and edited by David Goldsmith—all of Primary Stages. For the past 29 years, Jamie deRoy & friends has been an ongoing live and televised interview and talent program on what’s going on in New York nightlife and theater—hosted by deRoy and directed by Barry Kleinbort. The TV series runs every other Sunday at 7:30 pm on Spectrum 56/RCN 83 and Verizon/FIOS channel 34. Each show benefits a charitable cause, such as “The Actors Fund: Jamie deRoy & friends Cabaret Initiative,” a program to assist people in the cabaret industry with help for medical needs and concerns.

Jamie deRoy, a well-known figure in New York’s arts circles, is an award-winning producer; cabaret, stage, film and TV performer; recording artist/producer and humanitarian. She’s won seven Tony Awards®, eight MAC Awards, eight Drama Desk awards, two Audience Choice Awards, eight Drama League Awards, four Back Stage Bistro Awards, 13 Telly Awards and CaB Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
