Howard Crabtree’s When Pigs Fly, Flies for an Actors Fund Benefit, Monday, April 9 at 7:30 PM

A concert version of Howard Crabtree’s When Pigs Fly, the popular 1996 Off Broadway hit, will receive a production to benefit the Actors Fund programs and services. The show was to be revived in 2017 but hit a snag in capitalizing. Now audiences have the chance to see what could have been for one night only, on Monday, April 9 at 7:30 PM at the Geral W. Lynch Theater. Starring are Jordan Ahnquist, Taylor Crousore, Jacob Hoffman, Brian Charles Rooney and Frank Viveros. This production features new songs by co-creator, Mark Waldrop and composer, Dick Gallagher (co-creator Crabtree died at age 41 of AIDS in July, 1996, a month before the August opening of When Pigs Fly.)

Howard Crabtree’s When Pigs Fly is a comedic exploration of dreaming big and “wearing your heart on your fabulously-sequined sleeve.”  The show is noted for its witty, campy-ness. The original production won Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and OBIE awards. The plot centers around high-school square-peg Howard, who “doubles down on his fantastic and impractical design dreams to catapult himself (and his friends!) into show-biz hog heaven.” The over-the-top musical features whimsical costumes designed by Bob Mackie, a nine-time Emmy® winning designer.
