Broadway Barks Goes Virtual Across America on Thursday, July 16

The 22nd annual Broadway Barks dog and cat adoption initiative, usually presented in Shubert Alley, and this year entitled “Broadway Barks Across America,” will be streamed for the first time ever on Thursday, July 16th at 7:30 pm EDT. Funds raised go to the participating shelters. Donations can be made directly to BroadwayBarks.com or via the stream.

The event will be hosted by co-founder, Bernadette Peters, with adoptable animals presented by celebrities from across the country. The presenters include Alec Baldwin, Carol Burnett, Betty Buckley, Danny Burstein, Kristin Chenoweth, Victoria Clark, Alan Cumming, Raúl Esparza, Sutton Foster, Whoopi Goldberg, Joel Grey, Jake Gyllenhaal, Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane, Rebecca Luker, Audra McDonald, Bette Midler, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Randy Rainbow, Michael Urie and many more.

The stream is produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Broadway.com’s Paul Wontorek, presented in partnership with Broadway.com. The live-stream will broadcast free of charge on their websites, YouTube and Facebook pages.

Participating shelters include 1 Love For Animals, Adopt –A-Dog, Animal Care Centers Of NYC, Animal Haven, ASPCA, Bide-A-Wee, Bonapartes Retreat Dog Rescue, City Critters, Humane Society Of New York, Manhattan Valley Cat Rescue, Pet-I-Care, Pet-Res-Q, SPCA Of Westchester, Urban Cat League and many, many more.

Broadway Barks was co-founded by the late Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters in 1998. Since then, more than 2,000 cats and dogs have been featured for adoption, with approximately 85% successfully placed in their forever homes.
