By Scott Barbarino***Until just last week I might not have quibbled about the truth in the essence of the quote “you can’t go home again.” But last week at The Stonewall Inn that declaration was proven to not be an absolute rule of life, as I indeed went home again! So much of who and why we are in the LGBTQIA+ community starts at The Stonewall Inn—
now a national landmark—anchored on one short block of Christopher Street in The West Village.
And on the first day of Pride Month, Susan Campanaro’s birthday celebration was a joy and a homecoming! (You can catch her as Lavinia Draper headlining at The Stonewall every Monday night.)
Plus, on the afternoons of Saturday, June 13th and 20th, you can meet Tree at The Stonewall. If you don’t know him you should! For the better part of six decades, Fredd E. “Tree” Sequoia has been a fixture at the Stonewall as its long-time bartender. Tree’s been on the barricades, at the forefront of gay rights; this tree’s roots go deep.
A deep-felt thank you to owners Bill Morgan, Tony DeCicco, Kurt Kelly and Stacy Lentz for all you’ve done to make this landmark shine bright!
Be Strong! Be Happy! Be Proud! And get thee to The Stonewall!
