Piano man Michael McAssey hosts Piano Bar Live! this Tuesday, May 5th at 7:15 pm, following New York City’s 7 O’Clock Cheer. This week’s guests will be Michael Orland, Beth Malone, Amy Ryder, David Anthony Hernandez and Brian Tom O’Connor.

PBL! is the 2020 MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets) Award winner for Show of the Year “for excellence in getting the word out about Cabaret and Piano Bar” through live-streams from The Duplex Cabaret and Piano Bar and Brandy’s Piano Bar in 2019.

Michael Orland (Musical Director/Pianist) was part of the hit TV show “American Idol” for 16 seasons as the pianist, arranger, vocal Coach and Associate Musical Director, both on FOX and ABC networks. He also served as Music Director/vocal coach on “Little Big Shots” and “Forever Young,” both hosted by Steve Harvey. Orland has appeared on “Oprah,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Access Hollywood” and “The Ellen Show,” as well as having collaborated with the likes Bacharach, Neil Sedaka, Diane Warren, Elton John, Dolly Parton, Harry Connick Jr, Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban. He also served as a pianist/coach for two seasons of the NBC series “America’s Got Talent” and a few seasons of “American Juniors.”

Actress-singer Beth Malone is known for her work in Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theatre. She originated the role of Alison Bechdel in the musical Fun Home, for which she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She played the title role in The Unsinkable Molly Brown at The Denver Center Theatre Company in 2014 as well. as at the The MUNY (St. Louis, Missouri) in 2017. She is also an author and star of the  one-woman show Beth Malone: So Far.

Brian Tom O’Connor is the co-creator and co-star, with Debra Vogel, of three O’Connor & Vogel musical comedy cabaret acts, Guy & Doll, How To Be Perfect, and Found & Lost, all of which played at Don’t Tell Mama and many other venues, including Odette’s. OConnor’s new solo show, The Zen of Show Tunes, originally slated for April 2020, is coming soon to Don’t Tell Mama with Michael McAssey at the piano.

“American Idol finalist,” David Anthony Hernandez has also showcased his talents on “The Ellen Show,” “The Today Show,” MTV’s “TRL,” “Extra,” “Entertainment Tonight” and many more. He’s been touring as an original artist for the last 10 years and was invited to sing at the Inaugural Kick-Off Celebration ball for Barak Obama, performing with a host of celebrities such as Jamie Foxx and John Legend, Maroon 5. He’s also shared the stage with Bryan Adams, Donna Summer, Taylor Dayne, Thea Austin and Cece Peniston, to name a few. Hernandez released his debut video and single, Beautiful in 2016, which in addition to going viral became one of Billboard’s Top Dance Songs of 2016. His second album, Kingdom: The Mixtape features 20 original compositions.

Amy Ryder is an actress and vocalist at home in film and on stage, as well as cabaret and the concert hall.
