After 65 Years, the Drama Desk Award Gets a Makeover

The 65th annual Drama Desk Awards will be presented on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at The Town Hall in Manhattan, and to commemorate the event, the award itself has received a makeover. The new design is a statuette 10-and-a-half inches tall, featuring the Drama Desk quill on an inkwell base. Comedy and tragedy drama masks are cut into the sides of the base. The new design was created in partnership with Society Awards, who have also worked with the Golden Globes, Emmy Awards, ESPYS, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, MTV Movie Awards and more in the entertainment world.

The custom-designed award represents the theater writers, critics and journalists who make up the Drama Desk organization and who vote on the awards each year. The organization’s executive producer and parent company Broadway Brands CEO, Matt Britten, spearheaded the team creating the new statuette.
