Avery Sommers Debuts at Feinstein’s/54 Below on Thursday, March 19

Broadway’s Avery Sommers will make her Feinstein’s/54 Below debut with her show For Sentimental Reasons on Thursday, March 19 at 9:30 PM. A versatile performer who sings everything from blues and gospel to musical theater and standards, Sommers’ show includes personal stories and highlights from her successful career, including Broadway, cabaret performances and appearances at major venues like Carnegie Hall. She will be accompanied by music director Dana P. Rowe on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass and Don Kelly on drums.

Sommers is an award-winning actress and singer who has appeared on Broadway in Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Show Boat, as well as playing Matron Mama Morton on the national tour of Chicago with Chita Rivera and Joel Grey. She was also Jewel in The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas with Ann-Margret. Additionally, Sommers created the recurring role of Regina Dansby on “As The World Turns” as well as the recurring role of Evelyn on the ABC Mystery Movie Series, “B.L. Stryker,” starring Burt Reynolds and Ossie Davis.
