“Why’d Ya Do It?” Tammy Faye Starlite Performs Marianne Faithfull’s “Broken English” from Thursday, September 12 through Thursday, October 31

Tammy Faye Starlite’s rock ‘n roll nightclub experience commemorating the 40th anniversary of Marianne Faithfull’s groundbreaking album Broken English (released in 1979), returns to Pangea for an eight-week encore engagement from September 12 to October 31 at Pangea. Newly titled Why’d Ya Do It? the show is directed by Michael Schiralli, who also directed Starlite’s Nico Underground.

Starlite’s band for Why’d Ya Do It? includes Barry Reynolds (acoustic guitar, who worked for many years with Faithfull, beginning in 1976, including a writing partnership on Broken English); Keith Hartel (bass); Richard Feridun (electric guitar); David Nagler (piano, keyboards)and Eszter Balint (violin).

Starlite’s brand of in-character improvisation is faithful to her sources. Her other subjects have included the Warhol circle icon and Velvet Underground chanteuse Nico; Mick and Keith of The Rolling Stones, and her own alter ego, the country singer Tammy Faye.)

Why’d Ya Do It? Tammy Faye Starlite Performs Marianne Faithfull’s Broken English plays an 8-week theatrical run on consecutive Thursdays, September 12 & 19, both at 7 pm. The opening is Wednesday September 25 at 7 pm.  The show then plays the next consecutive five Thursdays in October—October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, all at 7 pm.
