MAC Award Winning cabaret artist, singer and actress, Mary Lahti, presents You’re Not From Here, Are You? on Thursday, October 22, Wednesday, October 28 and Saturday, November 7, all shows at 7 PM at Don’t Tell Mama. Musical direction is by her award-winning husband, Jim Lahti, with David Silliman on drums. Lennie Watts directs.
You’re Not From Here, Are You? is a comically tragic (or is it tragically comical?) telling of an unexpected turn of events that occurred after transitioning from a hometown where everybody knows your name to a new city where the welcome wagon gets a flat tire and your red carpet gets pulled out from under you.
The show features a range of songs from Cole Porter to Richard Maltby Jr. and music from Leonard Bernstein to Claude Debussy, highlighting the surprise strength that the rhythm of New York provides to help an obvious stranger become a New Yorker
