Vangari’s Funny You Should Ask Comes to Don’t Tell Mama on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18

Evangeline and Ariana Johns’ VANGARI presents Funny You Should Ask at Don’t Tell Mama on Saturday, September 17 at 4 PM, Sunday, September 18 at 7 PM and Thursday, October 13 at 7 PM. Musical Director: Darryl Curry; directed by Christopher G Carver;  choreography by Max McGuire and Mark Mindek.

The show  features some of their most requested songs, along with a sprinkling of new tunes and an original from the songwriting team of Ariana Johns and Darryl Curry, including material from Broadway to the blues, tales of voodoo and enchanted earrings, lost love and cautionary tales.

Evangeline began performing in the Copacabana chorus line; then came summer stock and regional theatre, followed by experimental theatre with Laurie Carlos, Suzan-Lori Parks and many others. She performed Off-Broadway in the solo show Late Night Catechism, and in 2017, she joined lyricist Ariana Johns and composer Darryl Curry in the premiere of the new musical, Buzz, Son of a Bee… An Actor’s Life For Me.

Ariana has performed with Darryl Curry in her cabaret series, The Dreamer’s Guide to the Galaxy. Their new musical, Glamour and Grit is in the works. Ariana began in comedy/improv with Chicago City Limits. She has performed her solo show, Vampingo… A Comedy with Bite on both coasts. Musical performances include new works at The National Opera Center, The Metropolitan Room, and Musical Theatre Factory.
