Trombonist Clifton Anderson Makes a Rare NYC Club Appearance at Iridium on Friday, May 15th

Trombonist Clifton Anderson, who played with jazz legend Sonny Rollins for years, brings his own group to Iridium on Friday, May 15 at 8:30 PM for a rare club date. His all-star sextet includes Antoine Roney – tenor/soprano sax; Hector Martignon – keyboards; Belden Bullock – bass; Steve Johns – drums and Victor See Yuen – percussion.

Anderson has shared the stage and studio with a diverse array of artists, from his long-running tenure with (his uncle) Sonny Rollins, to McCoy Tyner, Dizzy Gillespie, and Lester Bowie, pop stars Stevie Wonder and Keith Richards and Calypso king Mighty Sparrow. After training with such masters as Barry Harris and Reggie Workman, he joined Rollins’s band, touring and recording with the tenor sax titan for 25 years.
