Third Annual Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth Is Set for Sunday, June 18 in Times Square

The 2023 “Broadway Celebrates Juneteenth” concert is set to take place on Sunday, June 18 at 11 AM in Times Square. The third annual event is presented by the Broadway League’s Black to Broadway initiative and is free and open to the public. Live music will be provided by the Music Performance Trust. This year’s edition will feature BlackBroadway artists.

The concert’s creative team includes director and writer Steve H. Broadnax III and music director Rashad McPherson. Brian Moreland and Aaliytha Stevens are the event’s executive producers as well as co-chairs of the Broadway League’s multicultural task force. Jhanaë Bonnick will serve as stage manager and Devon Miller of Foresight Theatrical will serve as general manager for the concert.

Sponsors for this year’s concert include United Airlines, M·A·C (makeup art cosmetics), the NYC Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, the Music Performance Trust Fund, the Araca Group, Open Jar Studios and the Times Square Alliance.

Created by the Broadway League in 2019, the Black to Broadway initiative aims to foster greater involvement in and access to Broadway for all Black people and celebrates the Black community within Broadway.
