Trumpeter Jeremy Pelt leads his powerful quintet at Smoke Jazz Club on Friday-Sunday Nov 24-26 at 7:00 PM + 9:00 PM and additionally at 10:30 PM on Friday and Saturday only.
Pelt appears with vibraphonist Jalen Baker, guitarist Alex Wintz, bassist Leighton Harrell and drummer Allan Mednard—fresh from a fall tour of Europe. One of the most renowned trumpet players of his generation, Pelt’s style and approach place him in the tradition of giants like Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard.
Pelt is also the author of Griot: Examining the lives of Jazz’s Great Storytellers, detailing the oral histories of Paul West, Warren Smith, Bertha Hope, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Larry Willis, René Marie, Lewis Nash, Wynton Marsalis, Peter Washington, Terri-Lyne Carrington, Justin Robinson, Greg Hutchinson, JD Allen, Robert Glasper and Ambrose Akinmusire.
