The Anderson Brothers—Peter and Will—Present “The Journey of Jazz,” Running from Tuesday, November 29 – Sunday, December 11 at 59E59 Theaters

A new show created and directed by Peter & Will Anderson, The Journey of Jazz, will run from Tuesday, November 29 through Sunday, December 11 at 59E59 Theaters. The brothers will be joined by trumpeters Bruce Harris and Wayne Tucker, bassist Neal Miner, drummer Paul Wells and pianist Dalton Ridenhour

The Journey of Jazz takes audiences down a musical memory lane to experience how these musical styles evolved and became intertwined with the music of Broadway and popular culture. The show features numbers by Scott Joplin, Louis Armstrong, George Gershwin, Django Reinhart, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck and Antonio Carlos Jobim, among others. The Andersons and their quintet trace the century-long development of American jazz from New Orleans to the Big Apple. Spanning ragtime and blues, to swing, bebop, bossa nova, cool jazz and third-stream, they’ll showcase such songs as “Maple Leaf Rag,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” “Summertime,” “The Pink Panther Theme” and more. 

Identical twins Peter and Will Anderson are known for their unique renditions of classic jazz songs and innovative original music. The Andersons have performed with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Village Vanguard Orchestra, Jimmy and Tootie Heath, Wycliffe Gordon, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Paquito D’Rivera, and Kenny Barron. The Andersons have headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Sarasota Florida Jazz Festival, DC’s Blues Alley and Arizona Music Festival, among others.
