The 20th Anniversary Reading of Boys Don’t Wear Lipstick Streams on Monday, November 9 to Benefit Emerging Artists Theatre

The award-winning play, Boy’s Don’t Wear Lipstick, will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a virtual reading on Monday, November 9 at 8 pm. Written by Brian Belovitch and directed by Everett Quinton, the reading is a benefit for Emerging Arts Theatre and Lorde Community Health Center.

Starring Jonny Beauchamp, Margaret Cho, Yuhua Hamasaki, Lena Hall, Peppermint, Jacob Tobia, Mason Alexander Park and Daphne Rubin Vega, all well-known LGBTQ activists and award-winning performers, Boys Don’t Wear Lipstick is a 2000 GLAAD Media Awards nominee for Outstanding Broadway/Off-Broadway Production. The play is based on Belovitch’s own journey from boyhood to manhood by way of a 15-year detour living as a woman.

Emerging Artists Theatre produces a bi-annual New Work Series wherein artists of all disciplines can workshop their work. Lorde Community Health Center provides sensitive, quality health care and related services targeted to New York’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, regardless of ability to pay.
