Multiple Award winning performer/producer/director, Tanya Moberly, will appear at Don’t Tell Mama to perform and record two shows: I Love New York Songwriters Parts One and Two. Dates are all Fridays: October 6 and 20 at 7 PM (Part One) and November 3 and 17 at 7 PM (Part Two). Music director is Steven Ray Watkins on piano, with Matt Scharfglass on bass and Bradley Bosenbeck on violin. An audio crew will record all shows which Moberly will release as a double CD in 2024.
The shows consist of 45 songs by NYC writers Moberly has met through her work as a singer and producer, many of them through The Salon open mic, created by Mark Janas, which she has been producing for 15 years.
Songwriters represented in the shows include familiar names such as Grammy winner Julie Gold, journalist/songwriter David Hajdu, Jill Sobule, the late Francesca Blumenthal, two-time Grammy Award nominee Larry Kerchner, Bill Zeffiro, Bobbie Horowitz, Scott Evan Davis, Meg Flather, Tracy Stark and many more.
Moberly has been performing in NYC cabaret since 1997 when she co-created The Blonde Leading the Blonde with Susan Hackett. The show ran for eight episodes over the course of five years and received a MAC Award nomination for Special Production. In 2013, she received a MAC Award Nomination for Best Female Vocalist. In 2014 she was awarded a Bistro for Outstanding Theme Show as well as well as another MAC nomination and another in 2021. In 2019 Moberly won a Bistro Award as Outstanding Director.
