Take a bus, take a plane, take a car, hitch a ride, but get thee to Provincetown to see Marilyn Maye! Breaking all Ptown box office records! Added show, Monday, August 27 at 9pm

Marilyn Maye

Award-winning vocalist extraordinaire, Marilyn Maye, is breaking all the box office records in Ptown, selling out all 4 shows at The Art House. Producer Mark Cortale is adding another Monday night show at 9pm, following her 7pm show. She’s accompanied by Billy Stritch on piano with Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums.

Marilyn Maye has been described as a singer, an entertainer as well as an actress and comedian,

but the word that most of her fans would use is “phenomenon.” She is an unstoppable ball of energy, equal parts Ella Fitzgerald and Ethel Merman—one that would be remarkable at any age, but is even more so for a woman who just turned 90 and has been entertaining professionally for at least 80 of those years.

Maye applies her capacity for narrative and storytelling equally well in jazz, pop and theatrical singing. She also has a fine comedic sense not to mention humor; she can deliver a punch-line with ease and with just the expression on her face, can bring an audience to laughter. Among a lifetime of credits, she’s a late night TV record holder, having made more appearances on “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” than any other entertainer. She returned to working in New York City in 2006, after many years of working in regional theatre.
