Singer Debra Vogel Explores the Fickle Nature of Luck and Fate at Don’t Tell Mama in April

Does positive thinking tempt the evil eye? And when your luck runs out, what escape routes do we sprint towards? I Feel Lucky, Debra Vogel’s new show, looks at the capricious nature of life and how we cope when the rug is pulled out from under us. Appearing at Don’t Tell Mama (343 W. 46 St.) on Saturday, April 6 at 4 pm, Thursday, April 11 at 7 pm, Thursday, April 25 at 7 pm and Sunday, April 28 at 2:30 pm, performs songs by such diverse artists as Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tom Waits, Adam Guettel and Irving Berlin, exploring the ups and downs of daily living.

Joining Vogel are musical director Darryl Curry, who provides original arrangements and accompaniment, and percussionist, Rex Benincasa. Director is Elfin Vogel and choreographer is Nora Brown.

Vogel was half of the popular musical duo, “O’Connor & Vogel” (with Brian Tom O’Connor). She is also a character actress.
