Vocalist Jonathan Karrant and pianist Joe Alterman celebrate their new album, Live in Concert, at Birdland Jazz on Sunday, May 10 at 5:30 PM. These longtime collaborator, with bassist Mike Gurrola and drummer Kevin Kanner, move from classic jazz standards to reimagined interpretations of popular songs. Some of their selections reflect the influence of their close musical mentors such as Diane Schuur, Les McCann, Nancy Wilson and Ramsey Lewis, including a swinging take on “I Just Found Out About Love,” “The Great City,” “Your Song” and “How Glad I Am,”
