East Village supper club Pangea heads into Fall with a full roster of shows in the Cabaret Room, as well as regularly scheduled no-cover entertainment in the Front Lounge, including Sue Matsuki’s “Jazz Brunch Open Mic” (2nd Sunday of the month) and Michael McAssey’s “Monday Open Mic” series.
Ben Cassara continues his popular Wednesday jazz series in the Cabaret Room in September, renaming it “Pangea Cool Fall Nights Jazz Series.” Coming up are the Roseanna Vitro Quartet (Sept 8, 7 pm), the Jane Irving Trio (Sept 22, 7 pm), and Mark Winkler & Lauren White (Sept 29, 7 pm). The cover for all Jazz Series shows is $25.
The singer-satirist Tammy Faye Starlite who’s made a specialty of portraying rock ‘n roll icons such as Nico, Marianne Faithfull, Mick and Keith and her own hilarious alter ego, the country singer Tammy Faye, will introduce another of her many dopelgangers in a new show starring the enigmantic Tamar. “Yesterday, Today and Tamar” will run four consecutive Thursdays in October in the Cabaret Room. Thur Oct 7 (the premiere), 14, 21, 28, all at 7 pm. Cover is $25.
Cabaret institution Sidney Myer premieres a new show filled with oldies, chestnuts and oddities, “Sidney’s Back at Pangea,” on Mondays Nov 8 and 15, both at 7 pm.
In September TWEED TheaterWorks also returns with its popular “Sundays @ 7” series curated and produced by Kevin Malony.
