Off-Broadway Musical, “Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter,” Will Begin Streaming on Wednesday, June 9—Cole Porter’s Birthday

The world streaming premiere of the Off-Broadway musical, Love, Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter, will begin streaming at Broadway On Demand on Porter’s birthday, Wednesday, June 9, and will be available through Sunday, June 27. The piece stars Stevie Holland, with book by Holland with Gary William Friedman, music and lyrics by Porter, and arrangements and additional music by Friedman. The filmed presentation of this solo show is directedby Richard Maltby, Jr. Love, Linda launched with two sold-out runs at the Triad Theater in 2009 and 2010. The production was expanded, developed and received its Off-Broadway premiere at the York Theatre Company in 2013.

Love, Linda tells the story of Linda Lee Thomas, the Southern beauty who was the driving force behind legendary songwriter Porter. Though Porter was gay, their companionship and love lasted through 35 years of marriage and together they lived a spectacular, glamour-filled life. With new arrangements, Porter’s songs weave through the narrative, celebrating the love the two shared, while examining the darker sides of their glamorous lives. The score for Love, Linda includes classics such as “Night and Day,” “I Love Paris,” “In the Still of the Night,” “Love for Sale” and more.

Holland is a jazz vocalist, writer and lyricist. She has headlined at major concert halls, jazz clubs and cabaret rooms, in addition to performing in theater. Her CDs include Life Goes On, a collection of original songs, standards and lesser-known gems from the pop world and American Songbook; and Before Love Has Gone, which made the critic’s list as a Top CD of the Year at USA Today.

Tickets for the world premiere on demand event are priced at $15 and are available online at Broadway On Demand here.
