Sue Matsuki is an award-winning vocalist, author (So You Want to Sing Cabaret), columnist (Sue’s Views), educator, producer and emcee who has played every major (and minor) club in New York from Birdland to Feinstein’s to the Iridium as well as Carnegie Hall and The Metropolitan Room—and from Provincetown to Las Vegas to Los Angels to Alaska!
Matsuki grew up in a large family in Waterbury, CT, where the was on stage by age 6. She performed in community theatre and dance recitals as a young person and produced many free talent shows in the family’s two-car garage. After a move to New York, Matsuki started singing jazz at The Village Gate, but her first “professional” cabaret show was at Don’t Tell Mama. Since then she has received 12 MAC Award nominations (in 9 different categories) and is a 3-time MAC Award winner (Female Jazz Vocalist / Jazz Duo with Gregory Toroian / Original Song “One Stop Shopping” by Page/Matsuki/ Toroian.) As a producer, this is the first year that she’s at the helm, producing Urban Stages Winter Rhythms solo.
