Nicolas King: Celebrating the Memory and Arrangements of Mike Renzi

Nicolas King  celebrated his long-time friend and musical director, the late Mike Renzi, on April 28th—Renzi’s birthday. The pair met when King was 17 years old and collaborated for 14 years in hundreds of concerts across the globe and three albums, until Renzi passed away suddenly in 2021. Mike Renzi was, as we learned in this extraordinary show, a seven-time Emmy Award winner, 10-time GRAMMY nominee and musical director for the likes of Mel Tormé, Lena Horne, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Blossom Dearie, Maureen McGovern, Liza Minnelli and many, many more. He appeared on every major stage in the world from Carnegie Hall to the Sidney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall to Lincoln Center, and the Newport Jazz Festival to the White House.

Stay tuned for Part Two: Marilyn Lester’s full review of this amazing and heartfelt show.
