The ever in-demand, Marilyn Maye, returns to The Iridium stage with her quartet, for a special three-day Father’s Day Weekend engagement: Thursday, June 14th, Friday, June 15th and Saturday, June 16th. All shows are at 8:30 PM. Joining Miss Maye on stage are pianist Tedd Firth, guitarist Jack Cavari, bassist Tom Hubbard and drummer Daniel Glass.
Marilyn Maye has been described as a singer, an entertainer as well as an actress and comedian, but the word that most of her fans would use is “phenomenon.” She is an unstoppable ball of energy, equal parts Ella Fitzgerald and Ethel Merman—one that would be remarkable at any age, but is even more so for a woman who just turned 90 and has been entertaining professionally for at least 80 of those years.
Maye applies her capacity for narrative and storytelling equally well in jazz, pop and theatrical singing. She also has a fine comedic sense Not to mention humor; she can deliver a punch-line with ease and with just the expression on her face can bring an audience to laughter. Among a lifetime of credits, she’s a late night TV record holder, having made more appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson than any other entertainer. She returned to working in New York City in 2006 after many years of working in regional theater.
Tickets are $35 and $60 for perferred seating. There is a $15 food/beverage minimum. For more information and tickets please click here
