Jeff Harnar and Alex Rybeck Celebrate 35 Years of Collaboration on Wednesday, June 13th

For three and a half decades, Jeff Harnar and Alex Rybeck have been collaborators on cabaret shows of their own and for others. The duo are celebrating their 35th Anniversary Show exactly on the date that they began all those years ago: June 13, 1983. The fete  begins at 7 PM at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in the West Bank Cafe, with a set of highlights from their shows and recordings, including Cole Porter, Comden and Green, Sammy Cahn, Irving Berlin, Cy Coleman and “1959” Songbook shows and more. Accompanying the two are Jered Egan on bass and Dan Gross on drums.

Jeff Harnar is a multi-award-winning cabaret and recording artist who’s played in major venues, including The Algonquin Hotel’s Oak Room; Feinstein’s at The Regency; The Metropolitan Room, Birdland and Iridium as well as Carnegie Hall and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall. Harnar has appeared on televisionand in major performing arts centers across the US. He began his career at the age of 10 as a television jingle-singer for national commercial spots such as Mattel, Nestle and Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Alex Rybeck is a composer, arranger and pianist who has worked with George Abbott, Hal Prince, Tommy Tune, and Burt Bacharach, among others. He’s worked on Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional theaters as well as cabaret. He’s been musical director for numerous Broadway and cabaret stars, including Faith Prince, Karen Mason, Tommy Tune, Lee Roy Reams, Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway and Kitty Carlisle Hart, among others. Among Rybeck’s original songs are “What a Funny Boy He Is” (recorded by Nancy LaMott) and “Sing Out” (premiered by the NYC Gay Men’s Chorus at Carnegie Hall).
