Singer-dancer-entertainer Judi Mark reprises Merely Marvelous—the Songs of Gwen Verdon on Wednesdays, October 4 and 11 at 7 PM at Don’t Tell Mama. The show is music directed by pianist Ian Herman and directed by Jeff Harnar.
Mark’s musical celebration is a tribute to four-time Tony Award winner Gwen Verdon and her hit Broadway shows including Damn Yankees, Redhead, Sweet Charity and Chicago. Highlighted are the songs Verdon first introduced to the world, such as, “Whatever Lola Wants,” “Where Am I Going,” “Roxie” and “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” among many others.
The singer also spotlights some standards and surprises from Verdon’s solo album, The Girl I Left Home For, as well as her film and television appearances. The list of songwriters represented is as diverse as Verson’s career, including Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields, Kander and Ebb, Simon and Garfunkel and Kurt Weill.
Mark is a professional dancer, singer, actor, show producer, educator and Toastmaster. For over four decades she has produced and performed throughout the USA on concert stages, Off-Broadway theaters, regional theaters and cabarets, demonstrating her wide range of training. In addition, she has appeared in film and on television. As an educator, Mark has devoted many years training future generations of stage performers.
