Birdland Jazz Club resumes hosting live performances of Jim Caruso’s Cast Party beginning on Monday, July 5 at 8:00 PM. Host Caruso will move his popular virtual variety show “Pajama Cast Party” to Wednesdays at 8:00 PM beginning July 7. Billy Stritch is on the ivories, leading the Cast Party Symphony Orchestra (Steve Doyle on bass and Daniel Glass on drums).
Jim Caruso’s Cast Party is a popular weekly open mic night that’s been running since 2004. It’s an impromptu variety show in which showbiz and cabaret stars hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, led by witty, sharp and charming Caruso. A main attraction is that the audience is invited to participate in the musical festivities.
During the pandemic shutdown, Caruso transitioned the show to a virtual platform, with the technical expertise of producer Ruby Locknar, via the YouTube Cast Party Network. With Birdland’s return to in-person events, the virtual Party will move to Wednesdays at 8:00 PM Eastern. Caruso, Locknar, Cast Party and Pajama Cast Party recently received five 2020 BroadwayWorld Awards for excellence in online and live entertainment.
