Jeff Harnar and Alex Rybeck Bring 1959 Back to Life at Birdland on Monday, June 8—And It Was a Very Good Year!

Award-winning vocalist Jeff Harnar, along with pianist-music director, Alex Rybeck, revisit The 1959 Broadway Songbook on Monday, June 8 at 7 PM at Birdland. Directed by Sara Louise Lazarus, with bassist Tom Hubbard and drummer Dan Gross.

It’s been 35 years since this trio of creatives brought the show to The Oak Room at The Algonquin Hotel, to huge acclaim. There were 21 musicals running in New York in 1959. Drawing from those landmark productions, including Gypsy, The Sound of Music, Fiorello!, West Side Story, My Fair Lady, The Music Man, Flower Drum Song, Bells Are Ringing and Once Upon a Mattress, the program weaves together more than forty songs by legendary writers such as Jule Styne, Stephen Sondheim, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Lerner and Loewe and more. Highlights include “Tonight,” “On the Street Where You Live,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Til There Was You,” “The Party’s Over” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.”

Tickets, $35.46 – $66.36, are available here.

Birdland is located at 315 W. 44th St., NYC
