Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, with Wynton Marsalis, Streams “Coltrane: A Love Supreme” on Thursday, June 10

Beginning on Thursday, June 10 at 7:30 pm ET, in the final concert of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s virtual spring season, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JALCO) with Wynton Marsalis, will perform a big band rendition of John Coltrane’s A Love Supreme. Saxophonist Camille Thurman will be featured as guest soloist to perform the seminal piece as well as arrangements of Coltrane works predicated upon concepts of freedom and liberation, both temporal and spiritual, under the music direction of JALCO saxophonist, Sherman Irby.

For this rare all-Coltrane JALCO performance, live from Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater, the orchestra will re-introduce listeners to one of the most powerful pieces of music ever created. Universally hailed as a masterpiece, A Love Supreme is a suite of music and a musical embodiment of Coltrane’s complex spirituality.

Following the virtual live premiere on June 10, ticket holders will have access to stream Coltrane: A Love Supreme through June 16.
