Jazz at Lincoln Center Curates a Series of Live Outdoor Concerts Throughout NYC

Jazz at Lincoln Center (JLC) swings into summer with more than a dozen live outdoor concerts throughout New York City, plus education programs online and a collaboration with Rooftop Films Summer Series to feature jazz performances before films at select events.

JLC curates Times Square Alliances’ Jazz in Times Square every Thursday through September. Etienne Charles Quartet (July 8) opens this series featuring rising jazz stars (Thursdays from July 8 to September 30) in Times Square.

A weekend of blues, swing and improvisation at Bryant Park Picnic Performances features Young Stars of Jazz, including Isaiah J. Thompson, Endea Owens, Kyle Poole, Anthony Hervey, Alexa Tarantino, and Julian Lee (August 13). Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Trio with Reimagining Burt Bacharach takes the stage on August 14). In addition to these live performances, the sets will be available via livestream.

On Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 6:00 pm in Marcus Garvey Park, SummerStage will feature Willie Jones III in A Charlie Parker Centennial Celebration. Also performing are Sarah Hanahan, Godwin Louis, Justin Robinson and Erena Terakubo with Donald Vega and Endea Owens. Tickets are free at summerstage.org

WeBop Virtual Summer Term, from Tuesday, August 3 to Saturday, August 28 explores the lives and music jazz titans Dizzy Gillespie, Mary Lou Williams and Tito Puente.
