Swing 46, after 30 or so years on West 46th Street, closed its doors on December 30, 2025, but rumors were already in the air that a new club would replace it. Enter Jazzcultural, a music room and café located at the 349 West 46th Street location. The new club is owned by the folks who operate Smalls and Mezzrow in the West Village, under the aegis of Spike Wilner.
Jazzcultural is a tip-of-the hat to the late Barry Harris and his “Jazz Cultural Theater” of the 1980s and 1990s, a combination performance space, social hang and school. The new venue’s mission is to enrich the artistic culture of New York City and offer a comfortable and affordable space to make that happen. There’s an informal café/bar plus a 90-seat, state-of-the-art performance space.
The Jazzcultural café/bar opens at noon. There is no music charge to enter from 12PM to 5PM daily. At 6PM there is a $25 music charge for the café/bar seats and $40 music charge for the Studio seats. Ticketed concerts in the Jazzcultural Studio are at 7 PM (seating 6:15PM), 9PM (seating 8:15 PM) and the 10:30 PM “Late show.” For schedules andd tickets, go to jazzcultural.com
