Fred Barton’s Return in Photos: The Broadway Band at Feinstein’s/54 Below

By Maryann Lopinto****It’s been a while since music director/pianist/arranger/orchestrator/conductor, Fred Barton has given a concert, but he was back on January 4 with his Broadway Band at Feinstein’s/54 Below. The evening of Broadway gems and rarities by Jule Styne, Frank Loesser, Cy Coleman, Bob Merrill, Johnny Mercer and others was arranged by Barton for seven musicians and five vocalists: Michele Ragusa (Young Frankenstein, Urinetown, Titanic, Ragtime, A Class Act), Karen Murphy (A Little Night Music, 9 to 5, All Shook Up, 42nd St., Titanic),Karen Wilder (Forbidden Broadway, Guys & Dolls, Mack & Mabel, No No Nanette), Jesse Luttrell (Showstopper, Bawdy, American Showstoppers) and AJ Hunsucker (The Producers, Fabulous, The Girl Who Came to Supper).
