Vocalist Elvira Tortora brings back The Bookmaker’s Daughter —her Bistro Award-winning and MAC Award-nominated show—on Saturday, April 11 at Chelsea Table + Stage at 7 PM. Music director is Gregory Toroian, with bassist Skip Ward and drummer David Silliman. Directed by Lina Koutrakos.
This memoir show explores Toftora’s upbringing in a non-traditional Brooklyn household, highlighting the influence of her father, who worked as a neighborhood bookmaker. Songs range from Bobby Vinton to Luther Vandross to Stephen Sondheim and Richard Rodgers.
