Eadie Scott and Jerry’s Women Celebrate Songwriter Jerry Herman on Thursday, October 14 at Don’t Tell Mama

Jerry’s Women, a vocal group that celebrates the music of Broadway composer-lyricist Jerry Herman, presents A Tribute to Jerry Herman on Thursday, October 14 and Saturday, November 13, both at 7 PM at Don’t Tell Mama. Jerry’s Women began back in 2020 when Eadie Scott, managing artistic director of Manhattan Cabaret Arts had the idea to create a show based on the mature female characters represented so lovingly by Jerry Herman in his decades long career. The group’s name is a nod to the successful Broadway revue Jerry’s Girls.

This rapidly-paced show features 21 of Herman’s songs represented as solos, medleys and ensemble numbers. The cast is comprised of cabaret veterans: Ellen Auwarter, Rochelle Breyer Chamlin, Dorrie Domenick, Mary Ellen Ryan. It is directed by Eadie Scott with musical direction by Paul Chamlin.

In the span of 22 years, Herman wrote the Broadway musicals Milk and Honey, Hello, Dolly! Mame, Dear World, Mack and Mabel, The Grand Tour, La Cage Au Folles and Jerry’s Girls. He composed numerous songs for Off-Broadway revues early in his career. He also contributed additional music for: From A to Z, Ben Franklin in Paris, A Day in Hollywood and Night in the Ukraine, Miss Spectacular and Mrs. Santa Claus. He was nominated for the Tony Award five times and won twice—for Hello, Dolly! and La Cage Au Folles. Both revivals of the latter won best revival in their respective years 2005 and 2010.

Paul Chamlin has served as Musical Director for hundreds of cabaret shows, benefits, concerts, and musicals. He works with singers in several NYC-based musical theater programs and has an active private coaching studio.

Eadie Scott is the managing artistic director of Manhattan Cabaret Arts, which offers performance workshops, direction of group and solo shows and private voice study. She is also currently teaching cabaret performance at Westchester Community College. Originally founded by Collette Black, Eadie took over the managing position in 2018 and has continued Ms. Black’s vision of a cabaret family.
