Celebrate Miles Davis’ Centennial at 92NY on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17

Miles Davis Centennial Celebrations at The 92nd Street Y feature A Kind of Blue Band on  Friday, October 16 and The Miles Electric Band on Saturday, October 17, both at 7:30 PM. These exclusive New York City concerts of the Miles Davis Estate’s official centenary celebration are part of the Tisch Music 2026/27 season, performed in the Kaufmann Concert Hall.

The first concert celebrates Miles’ acoustic years and is centered on Kind of Blue—the groundbreaking album widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz album ever recorded. The A-list band is anchored by trumpeter Eddie Henderson, trumpet, along with Donald Harrison, saxophone; Javon Jackson, saxophone; Orrin Evans, piano; Buster Williams, bass; and Willis Jones III, drums.

This second concert celebrates Miles’ electric years and the boundary-breaking music he created from the late 1960s to the ‘80s, captured on landmark albums including Bitches Brew. The Miles Electric Band (M.E.B.)  is led by Miles’ nephew, long-time collaborator, and drummer Vince Wilburn, Jr., and features   a multigenerational lineup of musicians who worked with Miles in his fusion era: trumpeter Keyon Harrold, keyboardist-musical director Robert Irving III, bassist Darryl Jones, percussionist Munyungo Jackson, and others.
