Broadway World Cabaret Awards Are Announced. Vote Now for Your Choices in Each Category

It’s that time of year when Broadway World announces the nominees for its BroadwayWorld Cabaret Awards. Voting is open now through December 31st. Partnering with Today Tix, the awards honor exemplary performers and productions in New York.

For the year 2020, with cabaret rooms and venues shut down since March, Broadway World decided to do a Best Of the Decade award in every category. As a result, there are shows and performers that have been nominated from as far back as 2010, though the majority of the nominees are for more recent appearances. Additionally, Stephen Mosher, Editor of Broadway World Cabaret, created new categories to create greater inclusivity. New categories include artists who have worked to create online content during the pandemic as well as members of the industry that are often passed over for praise, such as front of house workers, designers and documentarians.

The nominations are derived from fans, admirers, colleagues, friends—those who support the artists as they create their work. “I am very glad that the members of the industry have embraced this annual contest,” Mosher says. “2020 has been a rough year and everyone needs something about which to feel happy, to be excited, and even though it is a contest where only one artist per category can win, the more important factor is all of the artists who are being celebrated and whose work is being acknowledged.”

After the voting ends, the numbers will be calculated digitally and the winners are announced in January.
