Women RULE at Pangea in September

In September it’s raining women at Pangea, and because of this the forecast couldn’t be brighter. Here’s what’s coming up at this hot downtown supper club:

Singer-songwriter Michele Brourman shares a mix of familiar tunes and some new gems from her forthcoming album “The Price of Love.” Author of many a hit song, including “My Favorite Year,” and of songs for 18 animated features for Universal Studios including “Land Before Time,”Brourman is a presence as a performer, tunesmith and collaborator —on stage and in recordings—with Michael Feinstein, Dame Cleo Laine, Billy Stritch, and most symbiotically, with Amanda McBroom. Saturday, September 15 at 7 pm.  Cover is $25.

Raquel Cion brings back “Me and Mr. Jones: My Intimate Relationship with David Bowie” for six encore performances.  Written and performed by Cion, directed by Cynthia Cahill, with music director Karl Saint Lucy on piano, this time and dimension-traveling evening is propelled by a lifetime of “soul love” between the Brooklyn-based performer and David Jones. Cion, backed by a four-piece combo, explores deep cuts of Bowie’s diverse catalog as she contemplates her destiny, fathoming mid-life, cancer and beyond. Six shows: Fri/Sat Sept 14 & 15; Fri/Sat Oct 19 & 20; Fri/Sat Nov 16 & 17, all at 9:30 pm.  Cover is $20.
