For anyone interested in a career on Broadway, the Broadway League has launched its latest industry website: www.Careers.Broadway, a complete resource to check out what to do, where to look, and how to build a career on Broadway. The site is designed to also aid those considering career changes and for teachers and mentors to guide young people interested in theater, suggesting points of entry nationwide.
Careers.Broadway is a resource that explains what goes on in the offices of theatrical productions, as well as what happens behind the curtains—backstage, including strategies, insights and frequently asked questions about the industry. There are descriptions and examples of over 80 jobs, links to articles and videos, lists of skill sets required for theater work and suggested pathways to those careers.
According to Broadway League statistics, The Great White Way supports more than 87,000 jobs in New York City alone, contributing $12.63 billion to the local economy in the 2018-2019 season. League president, Charlotte St. Martin explains, “The Broadway League has long been committed to cultivating the next generation of theatre makers – on and off the stage. Everyone can see actors, musicians, even directors. Beyond these very public-facing roles, a world of opportunities is waiting. But to build a non-performance career in theatre, you need to know what’s out there.”
Careers.Broadway is operated by the Broadway League in partnership with The John Gore Organization, which manages all dotBroadway domains, including Discover.Broadway website, the official digital home of the Broadway community.
