Vocalist Natasha Castillo, a 2025 MAC award nominee for Best Female Vocalist, presents Darin to Be Different at Don’t Tell Mama on Sundays, September 27 at 7 PM and October 11 at 4 PM, and Saturday, October 24 at 7 PM. Music director is Ted Stafford; directed by Lennie Watts.
The not so “splish-splashy” side of singer, songwriter and actor Bobby Darin (who died of heart failure in 1973 at age 37) was amazingly broad. His career spanned swing, pop, folk, country and rock music—and even protest music later in life. He started his career as a songwriter for Connie Francis and in 1958 co-wrote that famous rock tune, “Splish Splash.” He also wrote “Dream Lover” and gained fame with his hip versions of “Mack the Knife” and “Beyond the Sea.” Darin was a GRAMMY winner, a Golden Globe recipient and an Academy Award nominee.
