Urban Stages Winter Rhythms 2025: the 17th annual award-winning series for the benefit of Urban Stages’ Outreach Programsrunning from Wednesday, December 3 through Sunday, December 14, 2025

Here are comments about our terrific shows on Wednesday, December 10 and Thursday, December 11.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10 at 7:00 PM: Meg Flather and Lisa Viggiano in #realjoy

Multi-award-winning singers Meg Flather and Lisa Viggiano raise their gorgeous voices in song to reignite their Christmas spirit—and ours! Originally performed seven years ago, #realjoy2025 finds each singer in a new stage of her life, resulting in new perspectives on songs of the season, musical theater favorites, pop tunes and original songs by Flather and musical director Tracy Stark. The mood was mostly cheerful and upbeat with Flather and Viggiano performing solos, duets and pleasing three-part harmonies with Stark, but a favorite was Viggiano singing “O Holy Night” as Flather sang “Calling All Angels.” Beautiful. Directed by Lennie Watts. – By Kati Neiheisel

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 10 at 9:00 PM: Kathy Kaefer in Kiss Me Once: Stories from the Homefront

This gorgeous and heartfelt show weaves together wartime stories of veterans and their wives, including Kathy Kaefer’s grandmothers. Kaefer inhabits thepart of a woman of the 1940s as she sings the hits of the day with warmth and soul, supported beautifully by Musical Director, pianist David Shenton. Photos of the veterans and their wives were an added bonus to Kaefer’s stories, which allow you to see the individuals in your mind’s eye and feel their pain when separated from loved ones. A sing-along near the end of the show left most of the audience in tears, ending in a well-deserved standing ovation. – By Kati Neiheisel.

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11 at 7:00 PM: Rosemary Loar in Jesus Before Mary (Conklin)

With a swinging band and amazing arrangements on some familiar holiday tunes all JAZZED UP, Rosemary Loar took the stage in a beautiful red gown and performed with her usual wild abandon, offering us an array of tunes performed her way! She also sang a few of her original tunes to a very appreciative house of fans. The show was directed by Barry Kleinbort, with FANTASTIC musical support by pianist Frank Ponzio of piano, bassist Tom Hubbard and drummer Vito Lesczak. – By Sue Matsuki

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11 at 9:00 PM: Mary Foster Conklin in Mirrors Revisited – 50th Anniversary

***Mary Foster Conklin’s project Mirrors Revisited was conceived and performed back in the day as an evening of dark art songs by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, as immortalized by Peggy Lee.
