The Tedd Firth Trio recently returned to Birdland with two shows. Firth, on piano, with bassist David Finck and drummer Mark McLean, welcomed two special guests for their first set: tenor saxophonist Sam Dillon and the superb vocalist Catherine Russell. Special guests for the second set were the aptly-named trumpeter Alphonso and Tom Wopat, who’s been too long away from the cabaret/jazz stage.
